St. Angela Merici School, a ministry of St. Angela Merici Parish in Fairview Park, Ohio, provides a Catholic faith-based education with a personal approach to education. Its unique learning model of tiered levels of education ranging from Preschool (age 3 - pre-Kindergarten), Lower School (grades K - 5) and Upper School (grades 6-8) positions students to enjoy a well rounded academically rigorous experience with special emphasis on faith formation, community and leadership.

Open Enrollment (New Students)

The following guidelines and criteria are followed regarding admittance of new students to the school: 

  • Preference is given to registered parishioners of St. Angela Merici Parish with children already in attendance in the school.

  • Next, preference is given to registered parishioners of St. Angela Merici Parish with children already in attendance in the preschool.

  • Preference is then given to families who are active parishioners.

  • Finally, non-parishioners and non-Catholics may be admitted with the approval of the pastor.

  • No child refused admission because of race, creed, or national origin.

All necessary paperwork must be submitted, including the child's birth certificate, baptism certificate, immunization records, and court custody documents (if applicable). There is a $45 screening fee for Kindergarten students.

Re-Enrollment

Students who are currently enrolled in the school are automatically accepted for the following school year for grades 1 – 8 unless removed for cause or for the family’s failure to meet tuition responsibilities. Re-registration for current students for the upcoming school year is conducted in early spring. Tuition Agreements are sent to parents in the spring and a student is considered re-registered once the Tuition Agreement is signed and returned to the Business Office along with the $150 Family Registration Fee.

 

Transfer Students

Students in grades K – 8 may apply for transfer admission into St. Angela Merici School and may be admitted conditionally only after all academic, religious instruction, behavior/discipline, standardized testing, special services including evaluations and health records are received and reviewed by the school administration. All transfer students are admitted conditionally for the duration of the first school year and must transfer from a fully accredited school. As always, the final decision regarding admittance and re-admittance into St. Angela Merici Parish School is made by the Pastor in collaboration with the Principals.

Tuition

2024-2025

For the 2024 - 25 School Year, there is a family registration fee of $200 that is due, along with your Tuition Agreement.

Tuition Rates* (K – 8) are as follows:

  • First Child: $6,166

  • Second Child: $6,166

  • Third Child: $6,166

  • Fourth Child: $6,166

State of Ohio EdChoice or Cleveland Scholarship 

The Educational Choice Scholarship (EdChoice) Program provides students from designated public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools and also provides scholarship opportunities to low-income students who are entering kindergarten through 12th grade. All Ohio Families are eligible for EdChoice Scholarships. These funds are provided by the State of Ohio and may pay the full cost of tuition.

Cleveland Scholarships are specifically for City of Cleveland residents, are not income based, and will pay the full cost of tuition.

  • EdChoice Award amounts have changed since the 2023-24 school year. 

  • You will only be eligible for additional forms of financial aid or scholarships if you have first applied for an EdChoice Scholarship.

  • EdChoice does not pay registration or technology fees.

  • Renewal and New Applications must be submitted to Mrs. Fitzpatrick, dataprocessor@samparish.org by April 15, 2024.

ANGEL Scholarship Fund (Catholic Community Foundation) 

*Not to be confused with St. Angela Merici Guardian Angel Tuition Assistance Fund.

These funds have been provided by generous friends of St. Angela Merici School. 

FUND A DREAM Scholarship (Catholic Community Foundation

These scholarships are provided by individual donors within the Diocese of Cleveland.

  • Six $2,500 Scholarships are available for SAM students.

  • EdChoice Scholarship will be applied first.

  • There must be a $2,500 Family Tuition Responsibility balance for the student, after EdChoice scholarship has been applied.

  • Students must be committed to communicate in writing with his/her individual donor two or three times per year, with parents’ oversight .

  • Application information is available on the Fund A Dream website.

  • Applications will be reviewed and the student will be approved/recommended school principals.

  • Deadline to apply is March 15, 2024.

Financial Assistance

Financial Assistance is available for families who qualify and varies based on need.

Families are encouraged to complete a financial aid application if they are in need of tuition assistance, or contact the Business Office at (440) 333-2126, ext. 112 for more information.

Financial Aid will not be considered if your child is not registered at St. Angela's through Gradelink, and we have not received your Financial Agreement and registration fee.

Diocesan Tuition Assistance Fund (DTA)

These funds are provided by generous donations to the Diocese of Cleveland.

  • Apply for EdChoice Scholarship and ANGEL Scholarship first. Those scholarships will be applied first.

  • Apply online through FACTS Grant & Aid using your 2023 Federal Tax Return.

  • Application link is available in the Bruins Bulletin and samparish.org/school.

  • Application Fee is $35.00.

  • Only one application per family is required for both DTA and Guardian Angel Tuition Assistance.

  • Deadline to apply for Round 1 is March 15, 2024

  • Deadline to apply for Round 2 is May 15, 2024.

St. Angela Merici GUARDIAN Angel Tuition Assistance Fund

Funded by the generous support of the parish and school community, the Guardian Angel Tuition Fund is available to St. Angela Families that truly want a Catholic Education for their children, but are experiencing financial difficulty. All applications and disbursements are kept strictly confidential. The tuition assistance fund is a reflection of how our parish truly values the importance of providing access to a Catholic Education for all of our parishioners.

These funds have been provided by donations from St. Angela Merici parishioners and donations in Memory of St. Angela Merici parishioners during the previous fiscal year.

  • Apply for EdChoice and ANGEL Scholarships first. Those scholarships, along with any other scholarship, will be applied first.

  • Apply online through FACTS Grant & Aid using your 2023 Federal Tax Return.

Diocesan School Employees Tuition Assistance Fund (not income based)

These funds are provided by generous donations to the Diocese of Cleveland

  • If you are employed full-time in a Diocesan Catholic School, see your employer’s school Principal for Application.

  • Deadline is March 15, 2024

The need for tuition assistance continues to grow. Please be as generous as possible by using the Guardian Angel envelope found in your monthly packet, or make a specific donation to this fund through the Parish Center Office. Withdraw Policy

The school office must be informed when a student withdraws from St. Angela Merici School. The Permission to Release Records form with parental signature must be received in the school and all financial obligations must be paid in full before the school office releases student records (including student records to high schools).
