Student Life / Extracurricular

St. Angela Merici School places tremendous value on providing students with diverse activities to learn outside of the classroom while developing the whole child. Extracurricular activities allow children the opportunity to develop leadership skills, enhance academic skills, develop critical thinking, expand scientific reasoning, sing, play musical instruments and develop motor skills and sportsmanship by participating on various athletic teams.

Curricular Enrichment Programs

Learning at St. Angela Merici School extends beyond the classroom through guest speakers, field trips and assemblies.Our Parent-Teacher Connection (PTC) supports and coordinates our Beyond the Classroom Program that brings high quality assemblies to our students.In addition, St. Angela School sponsors special programs for our students including:

  • CPR Training (grade 7)

  • Choose Life (grades 6 - 8)

  • Operation Keepsake (grades 6 - 8)

  • Spring Olympics (K - 8)

  • Camp Christopher (grade 6)

  • Events for Literacy Week, Walk to School Day, St. Nicholas' Feast Day

  • Mystery Readers (grade 3)

  • Eager Artists (grades K-4)

  • Eager Engineers (grades K-4)

Performing and Visual Arts

Both Visual Art and Music are integrated into our regular curricular programs. The Performing Arts are showcased at the Christmas Program (K – 2) and the Spring Program (grades 3 – 8). In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in our optional Performing Musical Arts Program (Instrumental Music and Band) in grades 4 – 8 which is offered to our students for an additional fee. Our instrumental music students perform two concerts a year: at Christmas time and in the spring. Each Spring, our students participate in our annual Art Show.

Student Council

The Student Council at our school is made up of representatives from each grade level. Officer positions are held by students in grades seven and eight. These school leaders plan a variety of events for the student body and serve as ambassadors for school open houses and special visitors.

Scouts

Cub Scouts: Cub Scout Pack 401, chartered to St. Angela Merici Parish, is a family focused organization of boys in 1st through 5th grades at St. Angela's and surrounding community schools, and their families.

Boy Scouts: The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. St. Angela has a long tradition of supporting scouting and is very proud of having over 70 Eagle Scouts from our parish family.

Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) is the largest organization for girls in the world. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
